FAQ: Presets, Favorites and MIDI channels
Answers to the most common questions about Player routing, visual presets, Favorites and the Channels panel.
Where are the channels assigned to each Player saved?
They are saved in the active visual preset as the Stage Instrument routing. Each Player can use All, Selected or None.
Will changing presets change the Player channels?
Yes. Returning to a preset restores the channel routing saved in that preset, together with its other visual settings.
Does a Favorite include a preset?
A Favorite can reference a valid PresetId. In that case, the associated preset is the main source of the saved look and Player routing. Older Favorites without a preset reference use their own inline performance snapshot.
Why does the Channels panel not show all 16 channels?
The panel shows only channels that contain notes in the currently loaded MIDI file. A preset may still contain a saved assignment for a channel that is absent from this MIDI.
Can a channel be played by more than one Player?
Yes. The channel assignment can be shared by multiple Players, assigned to one Player, assigned to all Players or assigned to none.
